Adjustable—and lockable.

Tough and skin-safe.
The kréddle uses an exotic carbon fiber composite for parts that need strength. The chin plates are made from the same material as water bottles, to ensure skin safe performance where it counts.
Why it matters:
Violin/viola technique changes over a lifetime. A truly adjustable chin rest lets you refine comfort and control like never before.
What’s included: Base, ball clamp, four posts, two interchangeable chin plates, hex key
Height range: 28–45 mm (±2 mm) depending on plate tilt and custom chin plate properties
stainless steel vs. titanium
- Titanium (nickel-free): ideal if you have a nickel allergy.
- Titanium 37% lighter: noticeably reduces mass on the instrument. 4/4 violin titanium: 7 g (≈ 3 U.S. dimes) vs. 4/4 violin stainless: 11 g (≈ 5 U.S. dimes)
Look & fit: Both versions look nearly identical and install the same. Choose titanium for the lightest feel or concerns about allergies.
side vs. center mount
Side Mount — at a glance
Why choose it:
- More placement freedom: slides along the lower bout (unlike center mount).
- Dial in ergonomics: pairs with kréddle’s 360° lateral adjustment to fine-tune how close the chin plate sits to your neck and accommodate bow-arm length (longer arms → farther from tailpiece; shorter arms → closer).
- Broad compatibility: avoids tailpiece geometry issues; works with ½-size violins and up.
- Collarbone comfort: players report fewer issues with the bracket foot contacting the collarbone when using the side mount. Collarbone contact is essential for instrument security.
- Same reach over tailpiece and same range of motion as the center mount.
Trade-offs
- Clamps to one side, so clamping pressure isn’t perfectly centered on the instrument. Not typically an issue with correct clamp tightening.
Center Mount — at a glance
Why choose it:
- Centered clamping near the tail block (the instrument’s strongest area).
Trade-offs
- Fixed over the tailpiece: cannot slide along the edge; players with medium-short to long bow arms may find it harder to keep a neutral right-wrist.
- Fit limits: may not clear wide/tall tailpieces or tall saddles—measure before purchasing.
- Collarbone discomfort: More players report collarbone contact with the metal bracket foot when the center mount is used.
A note about center mount clearance: the center mount base arch measures approximately 15mm tall and 24mm wide. Without sufficient clearance contact might be made with the tailpiece.
Bottom line
Both mounts offer identical over-tailpiece reach and motion. Most players benefit more from the added ergonomic adjustability and fewer instances of collarbone discomfort provided by the side mount.

5-axis adjustment
The kréddle allows unequaled customization. Each angle of adjustment performs a different function in violin and viola playing. Understanding how each angle of adjustment will affect your playing is crucial to leverage the full capability of the kréddle chin rest.
4 Height Positions
Having the ability to adjust chinrest height, will, in our opinion, be the single most important accomplishment of the kréddle. This will give players with necks of all different lengths the ability to find the perfect height for their chinrest. It will allow all violinists the capacity to feel the stability provided by having the violin sit on the collar bone--a violinists real point of stability--while not having to worry about how to fill in the gap between the top of the chinrest and their chin. The kréddle can adjust between approximately 28 - 45mm in height using four interchangeable post sizes. The height will vary +/-2mm depending on how the kréddle is tilted.
